Mexico & Central America Overlanding

Websites:

  • http://www.expeditionportal.com This is a great recourse for overlanding, long-term travel, and off-roading around the world. They have interesting articles and a very useful forum. The forum members are more knowledgeable and helpful then I have found on many other forums.

  •  http://wikioverland.org/Main_Page This is the “encyclopedia of overland travel.” They have lots of great information about border crossings, traveling with pets, stuff to see, vehicle maintenance, and muinch more, and it’s all organized by country, so you can look at the information that applies to your trip.

  • http://ioverlander.com/  This has proven to be one of the most useful tools for us. We downloaded the app for our phone and continue to use it as our primary on-the-road travel plan resource. We have also contributed along our rout, so if you see a review from The Traveling Together Journal, that's us!

Books:

  • Overlanding Mexico & Central America by Jared McCaffree, Jessica Mans, & Kobus Mans:  This book contains useful planning advice and first-hand information about driving the Pan-American Highway that Amie and I found helpful and fun to read. The first-hand accounts bring an excitement and humor to the writing that made the entire book easy read despite covering many topics that would normally be very dull.
